This unique piece in yellow gold enriched with a case back in wood marquetry captures the precise moment when the bull, depicted at the height of its powers, emerges from its pen to join the corrida. To produce this hyper-realistic picture, particularly the striking details of the animal’s head, the marquetry-maker cut out and assembled 312 tiny veneer parts and 40 even smaller inlays, together spanning a palette of 39 wood species of different colors, textures and veining. The dial, crafted in elm burl, presents an applied small-seconds counter and hour markers, all in yellow gold coated with red lacquer and decorated with a hand-engraved motif representing cordage.
